Women’s Heart Center Educational Programs

The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s offers community education seminars designed to educate women about their risk for heart disease, provide strategies for heart disease risk reduction, and increase awareness of the signs of a heart attack and stroke in women.  The presentation includes:

  • Discussion of the increasing incidence of heart disease in women

  • Review of all of the risk factors for heart disease.

  • Definition and discussion of the components of the Metabolic Syndrome, which identify women at risk for heart disease and diabetes.

  • Discussion of new diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases.

  • Description of the signs of a heart attack and stroke in a woman

  • Description of how men and women with heart disease present differently.

  • Overview of the comprehensive cardiovascular risk screening program offered at The Women’s Heart Center.

Since heart disease risk reduction should begin as early as possible, women of all ages are encouraged to attend these presentations.

Presentations are available for all women’s professional and social organizations.

If you are interested in scheduling a presentation for your group or organization call 973-754-2600.
