Educational Programs
The Women’s Heart
Center at St. Joseph’s offers community education seminars designed to
educate women about their
risk for heart disease, provide strategies for heart disease risk reduction,
and increase awareness of the signs of a heart attack and stroke in women.
The presentation includes:
- Discussion of the increasing incidence of heart disease in
women
- Review of all of the risk factors for heart
disease.
- Definition and discussion of the
components of the Metabolic Syndrome, which identify women at risk for
heart disease and diabetes.
- Discussion of new diagnostic tests
for cardiovascular diseases.
- Description of the signs of a heart attack
and stroke in a
woman
- Description of how men and women
with heart disease present differently.
- Overview of the comprehensive cardiovascular
risk screening program offered at The Women’s Heart Center.
Since heart disease risk reduction should begin as
early as possible, women of all ages are encouraged to attend these
presentations.
Presentations are available for
all women’s professional
and social organizations.
