PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES PROMOTE

WOMEN’S HEART HEALTH

More than 40 public health nurses from throughout Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Sussex counties and 25 nursing students attended a recent “Women and Heart Disease” presentation, given by Margie Latrella, RN, MSN, APN-C, advanced practice nurse in The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s.

In the presentation, held at the Wayne Health Department, Ms. Latrella  identified heart disease as the #1 killer of women in our country, outlined women’s risk factors for heart disease, described the signs of heart disease and a heart attack in a woman and offered strategies to reduce risk. Following the presentation, Stacy Dakake, RN, MSN, Public Health Nurse (center) with the Riverdale Board of Health and Bernadett McDavitt, RN, Public Health Nurse in the Wanaque Board of Health (right) thanked Ms. Latrella for her presentation.
