AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN AND HEART HEALTH

 

 

Reverend Thelma Gattis, Pastor of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church (left) and Reverend Amelda Lee of Providence Baptist Church welcome Carolyn Strimike, RN, MSN to the Women and Heart Health Outreach Program sponsored by Clergy United for Christ and hosted by St. Mark. At the program, sponsored by seven churches in Cliffwood and surrounding communities, Ms. Strimike described the incidence of heart disease in African-American women, explained their risk factors for heart disease, outlined the signs and symptoms of a heart attack in a woman and provided strategies for heart healthy living. The 90 minute presentation was attended by more than 40 African-American women
