CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH WELCOMES WOMEN’S HEART CENTER

The Men’s and Women’s Ministries of Calvary Baptist Church in Garfield hosted  “African Americans and Heart Disease,” presented by Carolyn Strimike, RN, MSN, Advanced Practice Nurse in The Women’s Heart Center. In her lecture, Ms. Strimike described African-Americans’ high death rates from heart disease and stroke, explained risk factors and stressed that “80 percent of all heart attacks are preventable if we recognize our risks and take steps to reduce them.” Rev. Dr. Calvin McKinney, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church (far left) thanked Ms. Strimike and The Women’s Heart Center for providing “such important and life-saving information.” Joining Pastor Mc Kinney are Eva Alston and Linda Fennell, co-leaders of the Women’s Ministry and Carmen Benson, co-leader of the Men’s Ministry.
