LATINA WOMEN LEARN ABOUT HEART HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
More than 50 Latina women from communities throughout northern New Jersey recently attended a one-hour presentation on ““Mujeres Hispanas y Enfermedad Cardiaca,” given by nurses from The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s. The presentation, given in Spanish, included a discussion of Hispanic women’s heart disease risk factors, women’s unique presentation of heart disease and symptoms of a heart attack and offered strategies for heart healthy living. Hosted by the Hispanic Health Ministry at St. Mary’s Church and co-hosted by the Congregational Health Ministry of Catholic Charities, the presentation also included the distribution of gift certificates, donated by St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s, to women for a cardiovascular risk screening at The Women’s Heart Center.
