NURSES PARTNER TO INCREASE HEART DISEASE AWARENESS IN HISPANIC WOMEN

Citing American Heart Association statistics that indicate that less than 30 percent of Latina women are aware that heart disease is their number one killer, nurses from The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s recently worked with the Hispanic Health ministry at a New Jersey church to educate Latina women about heart disease. The presentation, “Mujeres Hispanas y Enfermedad Cardiaca” was offered, in Spanish, to more than 50 women at St. Mary’s Church. Shown following the presentation are Rita Kelly, RN, Director of Congregational Health Ministry for Catholic Charities, and St. Joseph’s nurses, Carmen Ortega, RN, Connie Castaneda, RN, Carolyn Strimike, RN, MSN and Sylvia Schlumpf, RN.

(See accompanying group shot with nurses and the group of women who attended the presentation.
