In partnership with The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s, Gerald Lipkin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Valley National Bank recently hosted a “Women’s Heart Healthy” Luncheon where approximately 100 women learned how to reduce their risk for heart disease and incorporate strategies for heart healthy living into their daily routine.

At the luncheon, keynote speaker Carolyn Strimike,  RN, MSN, Advanced Practice Nurse in The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s, explained women’s risk factors for heart disease and stroke, described the unique signs of a heart attack in a woman and summarized strategies for following a heart healthy lifestyle.  Ms. Strimike urged the women to understand the significance of their blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol “numbers” and be attentive to the subtle warning signs of heart disease or stroke. Women business leaders in Bergen and Passaic counties, senior managers from Valley National Bank and community residents attended the luncheon, held at the Preakness Hills Country Club in Wayne. Several of the women commented that “the presentation was extremely informative and one of the best they had ever attended.”

“We at Valley National Bank are committed to promoting both the financial and physical health of women in northern New Jersey, “ said Gerald Lipkin, Chairman and CEO of Valley National Bank. Thus, we are pleased to collaborate with The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s to offer a seminar that increases women’s awareness of heart disease and offers valuable information on not only reducing their risk for disease but also enjoying long and healthy lives.”
