St. Joseph’s Healthcare System’s Women’s Heart Center

(WHC) Educates Beauty Salons in New Jersey

(PATERSON, NJ) JUNE 18, 2008 — To increase awareness about women and heart disease, the Women's Heart Center at St. Joseph's is partnering with beauticians in the community to help spread the word.

An initial educational program held in June at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center reviewed risk factors for heart disease in women as well as gender specific signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke.  The information provided helps beauticians share information with their clients about the benefits of The Women's Heart Center for screening evaluations.

Carolyn Strimke, RN, APN, and Margie Latrella, RN, APN, both of The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s (seated) are representatives from participating beauty salons: A Strategic Plan Beauty Spot in Paterson, Amici Salon in West Paterson, Adorable Hair Care Center in Haledon, Midalma's New Style in Paterson, and Renee Crystal's Beauty Salon in Clifton.

A service of St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s, with offices at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ, and St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital in Wayne, NJ, offers women of all ages a coordinated approach to promoting their heart health and reducing their risk of heart disease.  For more information about the services of The Women’s Heart Center at St. Joseph’s, please call 973.754.2600.
